Bleeding Gums?! What do I do?

Bleeding Gum? Every time you brush? It just doesn't stop. You're in your 20's.. Do you have gum disease ? Hurmmm....

Drum Roll please.....

Well...

Let me tell you this, there are a few things you can do when waiting for your dentist appointment.

Now you may realize that you might have some plaque building up. Also, you may start seeing a mild receding gum line. Don't panic! Its okay and normal if you have inflamed+bleeding gums. I just got back from the dentist, so I feel like I'll be able to provide you with excellent advice.

I would like to recommend you don't be cheap when it comes to your health. So go visit a dentist to receive a more tailored treatment, rather than trying to self-diagnose and treat yourself. They would be able to also professional clean off the plaque that are usually hard to remove, and that usually helps a LOT.

So here are my tips and trick:

How to stop your bleeding gums:

1) Use these:

These are quiet painful when you start using them. These handy gadgets are called 'Interdental Brushes'. When you begin to use these, expect your gums to bleed like CRAZY. Because if you do, in fact, have plaque build up, then these are honestly brilliant.

- These need to be used twice a day (AM and PM)
- Use the larger ones when you can
- Smaller ones are ONLY to be used if the lager ones don't fit
- Must usually be replaced ever 6-8 weeks
- The basic colours usually used are the : Pink, Orange and Red ones.
- When buying the Interdental Brushes, all companies don't use the same colours for the different sizes available. Therefore, base it on the size, not the colour when buying the brush.

2) Use a SOFT toothbrush:

Now, I assume everyone says that they know how to brush. Some of use actually know what to do. Well let me give you some pointer:

- Brush twice a day
- Brush for about 2 minutes (the longer the better, just don't exceed 5 minutes when brushing or you may inflame your gums further)
- Brush your gums as well as your teeth
- Brush the ceiling of your mouth next to you teeth
- Brush the back of your teeth
- Make sure you get ALL your teeth (all the little areas as well)
- When spitting out the toothpaste DO NOT RINSE out your mouth at all (You need to keep a bit of the left over brushed paste in your mouth so it can do its job)

3) GO TO YOUR DENTIST !

I maybe have emphasised on this enough, but its a MUST. Even just for a check up or a clean. At the end of the day, dentists are there to help you and are professionals within their field. Make sure you're going to a good one though and check their work. If you don't want them to do a treatment on you then don't be shy to say no! You're the one paying for the services and advice.
